Amelia N. Patton
Amelia N. Patton is a North Carolina Board Certified Specialist in the area of Social Security Disability Law. Amelia has dedicated her legal career to advocating for her clients before the Social Security Administration. She also represents clients, whose Social Security Disability claims have been denied, in actions before the Federal District Courts in North Carolina. Amelia has extensive experience representing clients at all levels of the Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income claim process; she represents minor clients in Supplemental Security Income claims. Amelia also represents clients who have been denied private Short Term and/or Long Term Disability Benefits.
Amelia is a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law earning her law degree in 2003. Since 2003 Amelia has focused her legal practice on the representation of Social Security claimants and private disability claimants. In 2011 Amelia obtained recommendations from Administrative Law Judges and other attorneys and passed a six hour written examination in order to become a NC Board Certified Specialist in Social Security Disability Law. She is one of 47 attorneys in the state who has been certified as a specialist in this area of law. Amelia is an active member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) and a member of the Disability Advocacy Section of the NCAJ.
Amelia enjoys cheering her children on at their soccer and baseball games and attending their school events in her free time. She also enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her friends and family.

Cassi Mathis

Cassi began her career as a Paralegal in 2001 and has been assisting clients with their disability claims since graduating from Surry Community College with an A.A. in Paralegal Technology. She has worked as Amelia Patton’s primary Paralegal since 2003. Over her 15 plus years of assisting clients with their disability claims, Cassi has gained an extensive knowledge of Social Security Disability law. Cassi’s wealth of Social Security knowledge combined with her caring spirit makes her a valuable and compassionate friend to our clients as they struggle to obtain benefits. Cassi was born in Vermont and moved to North Carolina at age 10. She grew up in Surry and Wilkes counties and returns frequently to the northeast to visit family and friends. Vicky Inman
Vicky joined Amelia Patton’s former law practice in September 2011 and has been assisting Amelia and her clients with their disability claims since that time. Prior to beginning work as a legal assistant to Amelia, Vicky worked for 31 years at the Surry County Department of Social Services in the areas of Medicaid, Child Support Enforcement and Work First Family Assistance. Vicky’s work at Social Services included individual case management and program supervision. She worked closely with multiple Federal Agencies including the Social Security Administration, Employment Security Commission, Surry Community College, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and various law enforcement agencies. Vicky’s unique experience makes her an invaluable resource when it comes to navigating complex issues related to Medicaid and SSI eligibility.
